Farewell Ireland and Wales, back to England we trek

The Ring of Kerry was fantastic viewing, lovely coastline, and terrible roads.  The weather was so-so one minute sunny then next rain and wind, so a good day to be on the road.

We stopped in Blarney the night, again having the camp virtually to ourselves, and then the next day went to the castle to visit and kiss the famous Blarney stone.  I have to say I now believe that some things are handed down in the genes, I hated the tight spiral staircase, standing on the top of the castle looking down thru the bung holes and it took me AGES to work up the courage to lie back and lean out with my head handing upside down!  I was so pleased to see the ground again I almost got down and kissed it too!  For some reason I kept thinking about the Canterbury earthquakes and thought, shite if that happens now we are all goners!  Daryl, of course, thought I was a giant sacredly cat.

From there we cruised onto Kilkenny, but after driving through the town to the camp we weren’t impressed with the conditions so decided to carry onto the camp in Wexford close to our ferry and have two nights there.   That camp had worse conditions; of course the weather there didn’t help.  It rained and blew so hard the first night that our bed was wet, so we washed and dried our clothes and bedding leaving Ireland all clean and dry.  It was also the night of our first thief, Daryl left his 12 pack of Tuborg outside by Mildie's back wheel, it was gone in the morning.

Our ferry ride was great, only about 10% fill so we had a great choice of seats.  The 3.5 hr. journey took no time and soon we were driving from Fishguard to Newport on the Welsh roads.
Camps (in UK NOT Ireland) are now cheaper, often we are now paying as little as £12 for the night at top of the line camps with under floor heating in the bathrooms (maybe I can move my bed in there?)

We departed Wales for Bristol and had a great site right by the river, which we walked up into the town, catching the No 7 boat back.

Then onto Cirencester for a visit to their village (which we got lost walking both into and out of, we must have circumnavigated the entire village at least twice walking over 10km – lucky the sun was out)  We managed to get back to camp 15 mins prior to final 12 noon check out.

Then we cruised about 100km to Henley on Thames, where again we walked into the village for a browse after a late lunch of soup.

Tomorrow is our last VW event, Brighton Breeze, I hope the weather is nice to us and the show is all that I am expecting.
